Online Media | Slovak Republic, SK

Summary

My name is Ryan and I'm a social media addict. I'm also a web developer and entrepreneur. I build social networks and put together international development teams to create standards compliant websites and mobile applications. It's a mouthful, I know. In a nutshell, I have a passion for helping small businesses capitalize on new internet technologies and trends.

I've had a pretty colorful work history and a lot of once-in-a-lifetime jobs that help me to explore creative web solutions. When not collecting passwords, I'm usually practicing Slovak on poor unsuspecting locals or acting as ambassador for our local InterNations community.
Specialties: web technologies, digital media, social media, social networks, HTML, CSS, Javascript, jQuery, PHP, Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, web standards, *nix, photography, "expedient" travel

Chief Executive Photographer / Street Fashion Slovakia

  • Oct 2006 - Apr 2010

This isn't so much a job as it is an appendix to my lifestyle.

I specialize in social documentary style photography and have appeared in magazines and reports like Slovakia's Plus7Dni, Fiji's Foundation for the People of the South Pacific International (FSPI), Schmap, as well as the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa and the regional Slovak television station TV Pohoda.

  • Nov 2003 - Jun 2004

International Communication Specialist / ICON Communication Centres

ICON was another once-in-a-lifetime job. 70 expats representing almost as many countries selling used cars from a call center where they stopped work on Fridays to hand out free beer... what do you think? This is also where I learned how to sell.
  • Dec 2002 - Jun 2004

Freelance Writer / Photographer / Think Magazine

Think was a Prague expat magazine with a colorful history of it's own. I wrote sidebars and the Horoscope column. You wanna know how I did it, don't you? Buy me a beer sometime and I'll tell you.

    Get Smart

Still shaking my head over the Russian “Illegals Program” (come on, Mr. Fradkov, if THAT is all you’ve got maybe you should get off the sauce - a little “coding” maybe?).  I’ve seen crack heads selling a stolen, half-eaten steak with more talent than this so-called spy ring.  And they let Metsos out on bail so he can disappear? There’s definitely a lot more going on here than meets the eye. I hope. Maybe one too many Bourne movies has lured these guys into a false sense of competence?
